What To Believe?

In the last year or two I, like many Americans, have really begun to think about our country, to think about our government and to think about the direction that the government is taking this country. I have to admit that even after reading dozens of books, thousands of newspaper articles, blog posts and tweets and watching hundreds of hours of news and political opinion shows I’m still confused!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not confused about what I believe is right and what is wrong. I’m not confused about what I believe and what I teach my children and what I believe the Bible says about all of this.

What I am confused about is three things:

1. How the HECK did this country get so far away from the direction that our founding fathers pointed us towards in only a couple of hundred years?

2. When did we become so complacent and allow ourselves to be blindly led so far from our own beliefs and values?

and finally

3. What can I/we do to get ourselves back onto the path that God set forth for this nation?

Yes, I believe in God.

Yes, I believe that God has a plan for me and you and for this country.

Yes, I believe a firm belief in God is integral to living the selfless life necessary to get this country back on track.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I have all the answers because that would be a lie, there are so many issues and problems to be dealt with that I don’t comprehend them all. What I am going to tell you is that we in the United States of America live in Republic which means we elect officials to represent our beliefs and desires and make laws based upon OUR beliefs and values. If that’s true then how do the people that WE have put in place do things like obamacare and multiple bailouts and no response to immigration and on and on and on?

Can we please get some people into Washington that actually say what they believe and believe what they say? Can we get some people into office who will do what their bosses (the people of this country) TELL them to do!

So confused…Until Next Time
